Karen earned her Masters in Counselor Education from Kean University in 1992. Since then she has been licensed in New Jersey (since 2005) as a Professional Counselor. Karen started her career as a Psychiatric Screener in in 1993 providing psychiatric assessments, crisis intervention, and suicide risk and assessment. In 2001, she became the Traumatic Loss Coordinator and worked for the next 17 years providing trainings, psychological first aid, and postventions to schools and the community in the wake of a loss. Karen returned to this position after a break and in 2024 will be working with Ocean County schools and the community again. Karen added in home clinician to her experience in 2003, initially working for a number of other agencies and then opening her own agency, Bright Counseling and Consulting, LLC, in 2015. One of her greatest joys is providing clinical supervision to new counselors and continues to work with her staff providing in home care. She has been trained in Nurtured Heart, Nurturing Parenting, QPR, PFA and more specific treatment modalities.
